How the Discoveries Paintings Emerged?

"The force behind my art comes from my ancestral roots, and, also out of a test tube where ingredients from science and culture get mixed," says Ezra. "My dad was a Mexican modern artist and also an immigrant in Mexico City. No doubt the paintings have a genetic component attached to it. They bring an innate response to nature's beauty, colors, and mysteries. I'm not really seeing with my eyes when I paint, but I'm imagining it. Images get translated by a lens where art and science coexist," adds Ezra.

His mindscape has been influenced by years of experience working as a scientist looking at cells in the microscope and plants and animals in the field.  His research has focused on finding new plant cures in the rainforest. Botanical ingredients are extracted in chemical labs in Ecuador, Mexico and the US to analyze its content. Dr. Ezra Bejar has spent a life time elucidating how new chemicals in brews work and why they are concocted with plants used by ancient cultures.

" I am an impatient person by nature, so painting has been a great relief during crises when experiments did not work," says Ezra. "In art, I can solve a mystery or test a new archeaological site with hundreds of plants in just a few days.  After making/exhibiting three pieces with Professor Castro at SDSU, I felt it would be appropriate to create and bring an expanded collection of "Discoveries" to the Casa de Oro Library. I am enthusiastic to share these to the public during the Library’s upcoming Summer Learning program with young kids. The San Diego county library staff has done a very laudable effort in feeding and instilling young residents with more community activities and instilling a passion for nature, science, and art," adds EB

"I'm very grateful to the Casa de Oro library for sharing their community activities and a large wall space for this exhibit. It will be in my neighborhood for a full semester from July 1 -  December 31, 2019.  I hope to walk after the installation and spend some time with my neighbors observing the paintings on the wall, and turning to the bookshelves to check out books and find answers," ends Ezra.
